The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the three federal economic immigration programs managed under Canada's Express Entry system, specifically designed for skilled workers who have gained valuable work experience in Canada and want to transition to permanent residence. 

The CEC program recognizes that individuals with Canadian work experience have significant advantages in the Canadian labor market due to their familiarity with Canadian workplace culture, established networks, and demonstrated ability to succeed in the Canadian economy. It has since become one of Canada's most popular and successful immigration pathways for skilled workers.

Work Experience

• Minimum: At least 12 months (1,560 hours) of skilled work experience in Canada within the past 3 years.
• Occupation Level: Work must be in NOC TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 (skilled occupations) .
• Work Status: Must have been gained while on valid work authorization in Canada.
• Exclusions: Self-employment and work experience gained as a full-time student (including co-op terms) do not count.

Language Requirements

The language requirements depend on your occupation level: 

• NOC TEER 0 or 1: Minimum CLB 7 in all four abilities (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
• NOC TEER 2 or 3: Minimum CLB 5 in all four abilities.

Education

• No formal education requirement (unlike FSW). 
• However, having Canadian or foreign education (with ECA) can significantly improve your CRS score.

Other Requirements

• Must be admissible to Canada (no criminal or medical inadmissibility).
• Must plan to live outside of Quebec.
• No proof of settlement funds required if working in Canada (major advantage over FSW).
