Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released the latest update to the Express Entry pool, indicating a drop in the number of candidates and in the percentage of applicants with the highest CRS scores.
The current statistics provide good insight into the state of the pool after some draws, as well as into how tough the competition is for potential immigrants right now. According to IRCC, there were 235,127 active candidates in the pool as of July 5, down from 239,645 on June 21, resulting in a decrease of 4,518 applications over two weeks. This shift reflects the impact of recent draws and ongoing movement within different CRS score bands, especially at the upper end of the ranking scale.

Important Notice: Pool Distribution, CRS cut-offs, and Invitation Rounds of the Express Entry system are constantly updated by the IRCC. The information in this article is correct as of the date of publication but may change later. It is highly recommended that all applicants check the most recent information on the IRCC website or contact a licensed RCIC for further assistance.
One of the biggest changes is in the highest-ranking score brackets. The number of candidates with CRS scores above 500 fell significantly, dropping from 20,953 to 19,136.
Several upper score ranges also recorded declines:
| CRS Score Range | Change in Candidates |
|---|---|
| 471–480 | -1,120 |
| 481–490 | -1,043 |
| 491–500 | -476 |
| 501–600 | -1,401 |
| 601–1,200 | -416 |
Note: Most candidates with 601–1,200 CRS points are in this range because they received a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination, which gives them 600 extra CRS points.
Meanwhile, some mid-range score bands experienced modest growth, particularly between 401 and 470 CRS, indicating new candidates are continuing to enter the pool within these ranges.
Based on the statistics provided by IRCC, the largest number of applicants is found in the following CRS score ranges:
The percentile rankings released by IRCC indicate the proportion of candidates who fall at or below each CRS score band, providing applicants with a clearer understanding of where they stand relative to others in the pool.
The July 5 pool statistics do not reflect the two Express Entry draws held immediately afterward:
| Draw Date | Draw Type | Invitations Issued | Minimum CRS |
|---|---|---|---|
| July 6 | PNP | 534 | 708 |
| July 7 | CEC | 2,000 | 517 |
Together, these rounds invited 2,534 candidates, meaning the current pool has likely changed further since the data snapshot was taken.
IRCC held four rounds of Express Entry invitations between June 21 and July 5 and issued a total of 9,226 Invitations to Apply (ITAs):
These invitation rounds reduced the overall profile count in the Express Entry pool.
